Ean is starting to deconstruct because he's come to a place of deciding the faith structure he had built wasn't really sustainable. He needed to pull it apart and see where it went wrong. Not all churches offer this kind of space for examination, which is how ean saw his own church. So, because this church wasn't the place to look for answers, he turned to where most of us probably would, the internet.
