If we don't trust that there is a benevolent higher power in charge of what happens in our lives, then we feel like it's just us in our tiny little bodies trying to make our way in this great big world full of bad actors. And so how are we going to get through that without fudging things here and there to make ourselves look better so that we can survive? Right. You'll be thinking, I should be perfectly honest. I should be absolutely tolerant, but unless you have that foundation of trust, you're not going to actually get past the should.
