The Utilitarian View of Humanity
A lot of our contemporary problems do end up sort of shrinking to almost just points, just almost invisible specs on the cosmic timeline. And part of that arises from this idea of people as just containers the value. So if somebody can exist in the future with a net positive amount of value, then they should exist. On the utilitarian view, we have this moral obligation then to bring them into existence and maximize the total amount of value in the universe.
