Wimbledon's Statement on Russian and Belarusian Players
Wimbledon will allow Russian and Belarusian players to compete as neutral athletes. The All England club banned the pair last year for their support of Russia's invasion of Ukraine. ATP and WTA tours then removed ranking points from Wimbledon. They also issued heavy fines to the LTA and tournaments such as Queens and Eastbourne. This has led to this point where Wimbledon says, our current intention is to accept entries from Russians and Belarusians subject to complying with appropriate conditions. Conditions have been carefully developed through constructive dialogue with UK government, tennis stakeholder bodies and international stakeholder bodies in tennis.
