The southern section of the reef has been losing coral because of a coral eating pest called the Crown of Thorns Starfish. Around the world, coral and all of the underwater ecosystems that rely on them are still under threat from global warming. Climate change is basically controlled by humans. So, until humans can work together to try and stop the ocean from heating up too quickly, we need to keep a close eye on our precious coral reefs.
