What Kind of Benefits Does Political Action Supply?
All political activism can be explained in this way. Activism supply what sort of benefits to people? And I observed with extinction rebellion when they closed down parts of London a couple of years ago. There was lots of dancing, partying, seem to be a very great time. These basic motivations are not just true for extreme right demonstrators. In many cases these benefits drag people into participation. This is hugely amplified when it's five very strong social networks. Then we need to think more about our feelings of obligation.
