The Son of Man's Death as a Sacrificial Offering to God
In Mark 1045, Jesus stands this saying on its head. He says the Son of Man has come not to be served, but to serve and to give his life as a ransom for many. So Jesus evidently saw his death as a redemptive sacrifice like the Passover sacrifice. And he saw himself as a sin bearer inaugurating like the Mosaic sacrifice,. A fresh covenant between God and man that would bring restoration and forgiveness of the people. We must take up our cross and serve him.
