The Patriot Act 2.0 and the Digital Patriot Act

S 686 aka the restrict act which some people are calling Patriot Act 2.0 or the digital Patriot Act. It allows federal agencies to access any of your software or hardware at any time without judicial oversight. The language essentially bans the use of VPNs and takes a sledgehammer to the crypto community. And I read that anything subject to this bill will be exempt from FOIA requests you know which is going to hurt your next book.
