Stag Horn Calculus

The National Kidney Organization says that about 11% of all men and 8% of all women will have a kidney stone at some point. A person who gets chronic, repeating upper urinary tract infections is especially at risk for Stag horn stones. There's a whole complicated protocol, called Percutaneous Neferal Otheotomy, where a tube is inserted through the back into the kidney with the goal of breaking the stone into small enough pieces to be removed. The five-year survival rate for people who decide not to have their stone removed is about 41%.
