Machine learning is more of an industry practice, a professional field. If you want to get into industry, i would choose chine learning over artificial intelligence. targeting artificial intelligence is kind of that dreamy scientific chasing the rainbow to the pot of gold of the future. So if you want to stay in academia and push the scientific frontier, then targeting a i, conceptually, would be more alligned than ting machine learning.
