The Importance of Prayer

Prayer is an intercourse between the created spirit and the uncreated spirit which is God. It has many, many forms, some belonging to beginners and others belonging to great saints. For example, there is vocal prayer, what we say with our lips. And there is meditation which is a kind of a spiritual daydream or reverie. Then there is higher contemplation of saints which is an effective union with God.
