The Importance of Resurrecting the Past

"The Gleaners and the chronicler," a new film by Agnes Varda, is based on Marx's theory of history. In it, Beni suggests that anything we experience signals a resurrection of the past. "We must atone for the horrors inflicted on our past in our past ... because we have a debt to pay", she says. The movie also explores how capitalism has been used as a weapon against working people.
