The Effects of Distal Pulse Amplification on Blood Pressure
The concept of distal pulse amplification is important because it allows you to interpret your arterial waveform better. As the pressure wave travels from the central aorta to the periphery, the arterial upstroke becomes steeper and the systolic peak becomes higher. And that's what creates a higher, sharper appearing blood pressure tracing. The farther away you move, essentially the more peaked and the more jagged things will look.
