Introduction
Erica Roblarkens is an associate professor of anthropology at San Diego State University in the US. She's been spending a lot of time recently hanging out in training schools for security guards in Rio de Janeiro. Currently in Brazil there are more private security guards than police but we know very little about the field. Erica started out researching violence in favelas and she actually lived in one during her PhD.
