Suffragettes are lionized as heroines of equality, but they set homes on fire and torched post offices. They pinned white feathers in the lapels of any man not in military uniform that they saw to shame those men into signing up for the war effort. The vote always brought with it the responsibility to defend one's country, even to the point of sacrificing one's life at a time of war. And yet that's never acknowledged by feminists. This is the attitude of those women who we now lionize as courageous defenders ofequality.
