By mid-March, many hospitals were literally out of beds. Doctors knew so little about the disease as it was taking root in their city. They had to turn sick people away because they had nowhere to put them. What it felt like was that a large part of the city's older generation was just wiped away. It was seen people, old people, raising their hands, not being able to breathe, and seeing them die. Those are things that were just so horrifying.
