How Do You Train Yourself to Write?

There is perhaps more overlap than one might expect, at least from a first principles perspective. You mentioned in passing i trained myself to write in college. I'd imagine it wasn't this sloppy, adhock approach. How did you train yourself to write? One of the things i always tell people, because it was my experience, is that if you want to get better at writing fast, you have to be writing for edit and you have to being writing in the context of acceptance and rejections.
