What Is the Relationship Between Master and Serf in Labour Law?
One of the elements that you trace in the book is the idea of master servant relationships. That being one of the influences within still today our current labour law. Can you tell us about that particular sort of historical context and conception and what influence it's had? Yeah I think it's really important to clarify master servants so I don't know if the listeners will be familiar with down to now but that's what people call to mind when you talk about master and servant. It emerges in a specific set of legislation from the 14th century onwards in which there is a compulsory duty to work on anyone without access to the land.
