SEL - It's Gnostic. This Is Gnocicism

When we began the community of practice, most of our partners did not call the set of skills, social, emotional learning. They made up some shit. Still, it is now they're trying to co-opt SELs, little sympathy as I have for Castle in SEL. For Jessica Rucker, high school educator at EL Haynes and member of DC area educators for social justice, SEL felt like bus stop ciphers. It was the lyrics in hip hop that helped her deepen her political and social analysis. From Desi Chacon, Education Engagement Advocate at our YSE Center, SEL was about reinvesting in her community through organizing.
