The Standard Oil Story - The Sherman Anti Trust Act

Sen. john sherman, in 18 89, as like the sort of public sentiment is starting to shift against this huge octopus monopoly, proposes an anti quot anquote, anti trust bill. The act ends up passing in july of 18 90, outlawing all trusts and business combinations in the united states of america that were 'in restraint of trade' But standard oil viewed this as a win. They were like, oh great. The public is now going to feel like the us. Government has taken action. It wasn't for another 21 years before they brought them down.
