Scott Scott's Beliefs About Bears
Last year, in 2019, his office fielded 179 calls about bear encounters. That's 100 more than the year before. Haines Police Chief Scott Koch says bears have crossed from nuisance to safety hazard. It's illegal in Alaska to kill bears outside of hunting season unless it's in defense of life and property.
