We have to believe that patients are resilient enough to look into many possible futures when making healthcare decisions. There can definitely become times when patients anchor on certain unlikely hopes in ways that we as clinicians find distressing. We hope we've offered a number of different tools today to help gently probe for prognostic awareness and plan for different possible futures.
