Pre-Hospital Accuracy of Pelvic Ring Injury Assessment and the Application of Non-Invasive Pelvic Binder Devices

The study looked at 634 patients with a pelvic injury who presented to a single level one trauma center in the Netherlands between 2012 and 2020. The hems team consists of an anesthetist or trauma surgeon and a paramedic so essentially quite similar to the model that you'd see here in the uk in many other countries but this is pretty important because it's thinking about how do those clinicians actually assess for pelvic injuries. This service uses a method of springing the pelvis by pushing down on the iliac crests and if there is any pain or if the pelvis gives way then they should have a pelvic binder applied.
