The Role of the Microbiome in Skin Immunity

Dr. Shrudhinek is an assistant professor of biological sciences at NYU Lango Medical Center in New York. She studies the dynamic interactions between immune cells, epithelial cells and microbes in barrier tissues that interface with environments such as the skin, the lungs, and the gut. The big question is first, what is an immune cell and do non-immune cells have immune function? And I think we appreciate the answer is yes.
