The Paradox of the Artist

There's a kind of strange paradox with identifying people who embodied this concept, because they often don't leave a trace in a way. And I suspect perhaps of all of them, Neil Cassidy might be the closest. Because he was obviously memorialised by Jack Kerouac rather than his own art. It also put me in mind of, and it's in the Henry Miller book, Sexis, where he talks about how, essentially, if he, if he was living well, there would be no need for him to create art. The fact that he does this is in some way of representation of his failure.
