Hemoglobin Targets for Patients With Substantial Anemia
Hemoglobins less than 60 everywhere else in the world, that's bad. To take out more hemoglobin and blood let more, then their oxygen carrying and delivering capacity is impaired. For someone with substantial anemia, you could start with a simple transfusion to get them up to eight or nine. If they were still not improving, or if they were starting out with multi orgian failure, you could then proceed to an exchange transfusion.
