Some gamers do the same things when they're doing their games, that's just another sign of human brokenness. But it doesn't mean the game itself is intrinsically bad. D and d has a problematic design element in it known as alignment. And so characters are expected to play out to players are expected, through their character, to have their character act in accordance with alignment. Now, this is not, in principle, different than an actor playing a role. You need an actor who recognizes the evil that their character is doing and internally separates himself from it.
