The Past History of the Marine Self-Defense Forces

Japan has expressed far more open support of the Taiwanese government than at any point since the 1970s. Any potential US-China conflict over Taiwan would necessarily involve Japan, and given the location the maritime self-defense forces would certainly be at the forefront. Given both their unusual history and their centrality to future conflicts, the maritimeself-defense forces are particularly relevant.
