The Church's Engagement With the World Through Benedict the 16th
Benedict the 16th was a noted public intellectual in a way that many past popes haven't been. He was very much in the Patristic spirit and the fathers gave us that sense of the semina verbi right the seeds of the word. If we hold that Jesus is the logos well then anything that's logical is related to him. The job of the church is to find those and to engage those and maybe water those and see if they grow. It's not a surrender to the world, it begins crystallologically.
