In high school, I loved Shakespeare and poetry and detective novels. There weren't any prizes to be had, except for my English teacher Mrs. Catherine Lee. It's amazing how high school memories like that are imprinted on our amygdala. Many scientists will just say, look, this is society's job or this is the work for philosophy. And so they're the arts and humanities come in.
