Predicting Hematoma Expansion

In the setting of acute intracranial hemorrhage, much of the early treatment and stabilization measures are to prevent hematoma expansion. The CTA spot sign represents the focal extravization or accumulation of contrast containing blood within the hematoma. This is an easily recognized imaging marker in the most commonly used marker for hematoma Expansion. But it does have a few caveats: First, it's not 100% specific, like all other markers. And second, detecting a spot sign requires idonated contrast.
