The Dark Age - The Story of a Viking Attack
In 793 a viking party attacked and sacked the monastery of lindisfarn on holy island in northumbria. A lot of the great art work, like the lindisvarn gospels, that we still think of from early mediaeval england, were made there. It was an incredible sitting duck because it was a monastery of unarmed monks. So they might show up on the horizon, and within minutes, viking men with axes and maces and swords are charging in.
