Airdrops - Are They the Best Way to Attract Users?

I'm curious to hear your take on how air drops have been done so far. It seems like there's a lot of, probably conversation to be had around the mechanisms that are currently being used. We don't really know how effective they are long term, because we're only judging on at most, a couple of years of returns and data so far. And if you can go ou no, get some buzz, or raise some money yor hiresome people, but you've now given away ownership in your network - which is not useful.
