The Risks of Transitioning to a Lower Carbon Economy
There is a risk of lending to companies, which are high-carbon amateurs or sell products like gasoline-powered cars. If there is less global demand for fossil fuels over the long-term, all-part demand for new technology like electric cars could be transmitted. Exposure is high for banks whose local economies depend on environmentally vulnerable sectors such as agriculture and for banks that serves its sectors.
