Dan Blumstein is a professor of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology at UCLA. He studies how humans and other animals react to sounds with fear. It all started when he got to scare himself while working with Marmot's. The screams, it turns out, are calls that are emitted when animals are in dire straits.
