How Does Climate Change Affect Sovereign Bonds?
Can physical climate risks and transition risks affect a government as seen through the lens of their bonds? To answer that, i called ot my colleague, baver shah, who helps run our sovereign climate risk models. He says for sovereign debtholders it's when a possible natural disaster could come and completely impede government's ability to run itself. For investors they worry about how much debt is added on to a country's plate in order to transition from fossil fuels to renewable energy.
