The Scaling of Cities

As city sizes grow, social interaction and economic activity grow with it. This is due to the increased interactions and social lives of people living in big cities. Of course, this also means an increase in crime and disease scale with exponent one point, one five. Because of these scaling laws, you can take the size of a city within a particular national urban and predict with 80 to 90 % accuracy its average wage or number of patents produced. These predictions are dependent on a nation's economy, culture and unique individualities of each nation.
