The Tense Relationship Between Ambedkar and Nehru

When Ambedkar passed away, Nehru gave a very short speech in the Lok Sabha where he barely managed to praise Ambedkar. Part of his discomfort with Ambedkar was that at the time, Ambedkar argued that Dalits had special interests and ought to be organized separately. And so it wasn't just celebratory. There were norms by which minorities had to conform to congress secularism. They had to represent India before they represented their separate minority interests.
