Minsky Was Part of a Different Era of AI

Minsky was part of a different era he was part of the modernist era of AI and also science which ended arguably for most of the scientific disciplines in the 70s. He felt personally insulted by the success of the deep learning methods so he told me in his last year that they were not the right ones if you want to build AI. There are very few minskis right now in the field because the institutions are not welcoming to any new minskis they just don't fit in.
