The Three Types of Neutrinos

We now know that the electron has two heavier cousins, one we call the muon and one we called the tau. These particles are pretty much just like electrons, except they're more massive. And because they're heavy, they decay to lighter things which can be seen in nuclear reactions. There's a neutrino that goes with a muon, which we calls the muon neutrino,. A muon also goes with a tau, which we call the tau neutrino. So we have these three different flavors of neutrino, which makes the whole situation more complicated.
