Viva Air in Colombia Is Looking to Merge With Avianka

Viva Air, an ultra-low cost carrier in Colombia, is looking to merge with Avianka. In September, no fewer than nine airlines lodged opposition to this plan. Colombian authorities said they're going to speed up the review process because they're worried that it's going to fall over entirely and not be a viable business at all. But then today, yet another twist because Latin America's largest airline, Latam, has thrown its hat in the ring as well.
