The 1960s had rocked the traditional political scene. The popularity of leftist student movements and massive strike at the end of the 60s scared more conservative elements in Italian society. On December 12, 1969, a bomb went off in Piazza Fontana, smacking the center of my own hometown of Milan. It destroyed much of the National Agrarian Bank and killed 17 people.
