I Haven't Gone Away Have I?

I'm fascinated by the reaction to your work because I mean I've known you as this sort of matriarchal pioneering artist my whole life. But yet we've spoken about this idea that when you represented Britain at the 2007 Venice Biennale the critics weren't as welcoming. They tried to make me go away but I didn't go away. We had rape, abortion, abuse, sexual abuse, fear. Those were the main subjects that I was working with. You know nobody bothered to spend the time looking to see what I was saying or what I was doing. The European press did it but it was mainly the British press and I think now they would look at things differently.
