I was about 13 or 14 when the Boston Globe blew the lid open on this systemic scandal. My dad had actually written a memoir about his experience called the seminary. And around the time of this headline news in Boston Globe and elsewhere, my dad was asked to write about his own experience. That became sort of the first time I learned the full story of why he never became a priest.
