Collective Effervescence

I've been thinking about whether you know we kind of have this. A some baseline assumption that the individual is the sort of unit that we care about rather than the group. But there are other ways of looking at this and saying well it might be the case that defining features of humanity or whatever are first collective and then and only later individuated. There's an argument in Barbara Aaron Reich's book dancing in the street which is like it's a history of collective joy.
