The Double Standard Technique

A patient who's written the really great, I've read parts of it. She was going to something called a pitch around drama. It's kind of like speed dating where they have agents lined up in the room. And before she was hesitating to sign up for it because she had so many negative thoughts about herself and her book. Her first negative thought: "I'm not very exciting enough for an agent to want to pick up my book" That led to her feeling inadequate and not good enough. So we actually did the double standard technique - treating all people with one standard rather than being kind to others and hostile to yourself.
