Is It a Bigger Question Than That?
i don't want to cast aspersions about someone as well regarded as dennet academically, but i will say he's dead wrong to characterize philosophy's being misguided when it's looking at what he considers smaller trivial questions. Most of them couldn't care less about whether or not ah numbers exist and so on. But if you start by examining thee sort of everyday sorts of things that everyone encounters, then you have an avenue to raise those sort of larger questions. So i think that's a an important omission tat thinking about the every day and thinking about the sort of easy to neglect aspects of life.
