Investigators are thinking the murders probably aren't professional, but they were intelligent enough to cover their tracks in that they had left no finger prints. Some of shirley's hair was actually found in russell's hand. They think they were possibly together at the time of the attack and killed simultaneously. Their son thinks he was trying to protect her and maybe lover her with his own body. But there really was no evidence of anything. It was like a ghost just came in, came and went and left zero clues.
