Lewis liked to quote Saint Paul the mystic in his fiction or at least echo him. Jane Studdick finally realized that her journey and her spending time with the community at Saint Anne's is really leading her to this moment where she realizes that her modest outfit of ideas, as he calls it, are falling away. So he sees his experiences as validating him as an apostle.
