The Priestly Role of Blessing

Blessings are related to the priestly role of blessing, where a priest blesses something to make it holy. Not simply to bless God because he's good, and he does good things for us, but rather because we want to make the thing that we are blessing holy. The two ways we can make something holy is by fervent prayer for the person or by a prayer which actually sets the thing apart for sacred use.
